Overview
Hospitality venues across Australia were drowning in manual tip distribution. Every pay cycle meant hours of spreadsheet work -- splitting tips across shifts, calculating fair shares based on hours worked, and ensuring compliance with taxation requirements. Errors were common. Staff trust was eroding.
Tip Sheet approached Noorix with a clear vision: automate the entire tip lifecycle. From the moment a customer taps their card, to the second each team member receives their calculated share, the platform needed to handle it all -- transparently, fairly, and in real time.
The challenge extended beyond simple math. Different venues had different splitting rules. Tips arrived from multiple payment terminal providers. Staff rosters lived in separate workforce management systems. We needed to unify these disparate data sources into a single, trusted pipeline.
Solution
We architected a multi-tenant SaaS platform on AWS using a microservices approach. The backend runs on NestJS deployed via AWS Copilot on Fargate containers, backed by Amazon AuroraDB for high-availability relational storage. Serverless functions handle event-driven processing like tip calculations and notification dispatch.
The Angular frontend provides venue managers with a dashboard for configuring splitting rules, monitoring real-time tip flows, and generating compliance reports. Staff members access a simplified portal to view their earnings history and upcoming payouts.
